Ocate Cliffs is a mountaintop retreat center built and staffed by autistic people. The site is on a mountain in northern New Mexico. The place is an ongoing community of autistic workers, a self-sustaining place for job training and personal growth, and an ongoing publicly visible experiment in disability leadership. It's a place where the model of the disabled "recipient of services" is turned upside down: we're taking care of ourselves and providing a service to others. It's an experiment in a workplace designed for full inclusion, meant to yield evidence applicable to other workplaces. The company, Divergent Labs, Inc., is a non-profit dedicated to the growth, empowerment, and inclusion of autistic people.
